IS THERE JUSTICE IN THE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST?

CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, INC SEEKS TO GARNISH MEMBERS WAGES!

In the parable of the “good samaritan”, the priest and the levi did exactly what they were supposed to do according to the law.   It is interesting that Jesus commended someone who was looked down upon by the Jews (can we say church folks).  Where are the good samaritans?    I was Garnished again.  My prayer, Psalms 94:3-4.

October 13:  I was garnished again today.  Total “stolen” since this began is $558.22.  As someone else said “How Long This Madness”

UPDATE: On October 6, 2010 I was garnished again.

There are those who will try to “misplace the truth” and say they did not ask for a garnishment.  The CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, INC is a plantiff.  The plantiffs lawyers work for COGIC.  They can tell them to stop at any time.

UPDATE: September 29, 2010

My personal check, has been garnished today !

Not only has the Church of God in Christ, Inc and Bishop J. C. Gilkey thru Kansas Southwest Juridiction taken our church, stripped us of the non-profit corporation, have an injunction against us.  They tried to sue for all the offerings, tithes, Jurisdiction reports, National reports etc.  They recieved default judgement which is being appealed. However, now they have filed papers to garnish my paycheck.  Yes, thats right, they want to garnish my paycheck.  This could happen to you.  Enoch Perry General Counsel for COGIC, INC has assisted and even advised Bishop Gilkey to begin this action back in 2005.  Some of the named defendants are not trustees but members.  One person not only is not a trustee but she is not a member either.  They know my sister Brenda Stidham is not a member.  We have sent letters to every member of the General Board except the ones newly elected in 2008.  The National Church has consented to the taking of local property even though they know there was no national or state money put into the building.  That case was dismissed through a mediated settlement which Enoch Perry signed,  they then filed again in 2009.  Each time Enoch Perry, General Counel for COGIC, Inc. has come to Wichita and has been the star witness for Bishop Gilkey.  They say we are a bunch of renegades but not once  have they came out to see if that were true.  We have sent complaints to every member of the General Board (except as noted above), to Bishop Sheard in 2006 and to the General Assembly.  Supt. Hutchins said there was nothing he could do.  Even though they knew this Bishop did not follow the correct procedure.  Watch out, if you make your Bishop mad, you might be next!

  2. Since the church is incorporated take them to secular court! They only understand the law of the land. COGIC law/rules have no anchor! Bishop Blake is just as guilty as Gilkey! Blake’s silence is means he supports this Gilkey. If you need a witness ask Pearly Gate COGIC in Stockton. Blake now owns it!

    • When the General Counsel comes out and speaks with deceit and guile, when the Bishop is willing to operate with deceit, the secular courts believe them. Especially when no one from the National comes out to speak the truth. When Bishop Nesbitt came out he was vilified and chose to step down. The story that is being told is different but if you read the letters he has written you can see it was because there were some individuals who are corrupt. I am familiar with some of the Pearly Gate issue. This stems from the claim of COGIC being a hierarchical church.

  3. These things let’s us know that we must stop talking and start fasting and praying. There are thousands of brothers and sisters who don’t know what’s going our church. This is July 18,2012 and I just was told about the church (C.O.G.I.C.)HAS BEEN incorporated. AND SO i searched the internet this morning to find it is so. PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH THOSE YOU KNOW THAT TO START FASTING AND PRAYING THAT OUR FATHER GOD WILL FIGHT AGAINST US, THAT THESE WICKED PASTORS AND BISHOPS, THAT THEY WILL BE CONFUSED, CONFOUNDED, AND PUT TO SHAME THAT ROB AND ABUSE THE CHURCH FOR THEIR PROFIT AND SPEAK LIES FOR PERSONAL GAIN.

    • The Church of God in Christ has been incorporated since December 18, 1922. In the original charter, the stated purpose was “The purpose for which this charter is sought is to hold in trust for the use and benefit of the said Church all the real estate, and personal property of the said Church wherever located or situated.”

  4. This is not what GOD is all about!….remember HIS words if you are called to go…go without funds…..do the work you are called to do and GOD will provide for you….this is very sad when the CHURCH has become nothing but a siphoning tube…its all about MONEY,who gives it and how much they give in certain Churches it determines where you will be postioned in the Church…the Church belongs to GOD it is a place of Worship, and Fellowship for those who have a like mind and are striving for the same goal…in Church That goal is to abide by God’s commands, live Christ like, love one another, and try and make it to Heaven…..

  8. The rules that should have been used to protect the church and teh people were used to abuse the church and the people and God is not pleased! This is a tragic event and individuals who try to blame the victims are more than silly, they are out of their minds. The garnishment was granted because the case was made that the church owed the Bishop because he couldn’t collect on funds that he felt he should have retained. The judge in this case is TOTALLY out of his jurisdiction and should have remanded the case to the church judiciary board in my non legal opinion. In fact I believe the constitutional rights of these individuals have been violated and the state has stepped over into teh church which is a violation of specified rights intimated and generally held to separate church from state in certain issues. This church does not operate in ANY MANNER like a Catholic church. The church does not and is not required to provide a salary to leadership unless that church agrees to do so. Such an agreement is not mandatory, but is one based on free-will agreement and is always subject to change if there is no contract involved. Suggestions to the contrary are fictitions made up to abuse this church.
The judiciary board of the church has sided with the congregation against the actions of the bishop and the national church but yet they persist. Those in the know count on the ignorance of individuals like Marchelle and others to create a culture of silence whereby abuse can take place without challenge. This is mental abuse as well as abuse of the word of God. The word of God requires them that know the truth to tell it and spread it even if the consequences are not pretty.(Isaiah 58:1) The same David that praised God until he danced out of his clothes,(2 Sam. 6:14-15) cut off the head of giants (1 Sam. 17:51) and killed many enemies on the field of battle.(1 Sam. 18:7) That did not take away his anointing, call, or purpose with God. In fact the things he did proved his relationship and calling of God. What the national church needs to know is that this is an issue worth fighting against and over and we will continue to pronounce it IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!

    • It was my understanding that each COGIC church is it’s own entity like a franchise and therefore the property aand any assets are YOURS if you found the church in the sense that they cannot come in and take it. If they try what you do is withdraw from the Jurisdiction or from the church or join another jurisidiction. At least that is the way I have seen it done in the jurisdiction, because you affiliate by choice not by demand. so lets say start a church called Morning Star COGIC for example and I decide I don’t liek the way my bishop is doing things. I could for example leave the jurisdiction and join another one, or withdraw my church from COGIC because THEY CANNOT MAKE YOU STAY because your congregation is the ones who paid for the property and put the tithes in. Another little way one could get around someone taking the property is to leave the church and found another church. Sometimes people forget that the congregation votes with its feet sometimes IE lets you don’t like the way I do things at Morning Star COGIC you and the best supporters of my ministry go and join another church the church fails. It happens sometimes.

      • That is somewhat what they tell you, however, Enoch Perry, COGIC’s General Council came to Wichita and sang a different tune. He seems to believe the National church owns the property.
That is why they throw that word “hierarchical”. He even said in court COGIC is hierarchical “akin to the catholic church”.

  15. Why don’t you file for bankruptcy and get the garnishments stopped. This is very sad to hear. Why are your wages being garnished? Did you appeal? When your father passed, isn’t it proper to allow the Bishop to select a pastor in the COGIC. Just questions I wanted to ask for clarification. I hope and pray you get pass this mess and confusion. This is not right. You need to go to St.Louis and make this known among the people and speak out against this. Be Blessed my brother.

    • I know bankruptcy would stop the garnishment, but I have choosen to trust God. God was not taken by surprise, so my turst is in him.
Yes, only a Bishop can appoint a pastor in COGIC, but he has been charged by the General Assembly to do certain things.
It is difficult to get things heard on the floor when some of the parties have friends in high places that are willing to speak deceitfully.

    • Are the other members getting their checks garnished as well? I am so confused on this. Why are your check(s) being garnished. Is it to pay for court fees and attorney fees. You stated your sister is not a member of Immanuel. Is she getting her check garnished? You should pass out fliers at all the COGIC churches in your area with this information. That would put pressure on the leadership. What jurisdiction are you a part of? Does the jurisdiction know what is going on. That prelate is accountable to those people he serves. This is taking money out of your family’s pocket. Do you have family? If so, they have to eat. This is really sad!!!!

      Comment by Mr.COGIC1911 — October 15, 2010 @ 2:23 PM | Reply

      • Question 1 – No
        2. It is not to pay court cost; The attorneys for the plantiffs(Church of God in Christ, Inc. and Kansas Southwest Jursidiction) initiated the garnishment. You have to ask both National and KSW leaders what they will do with it. The garnishment request came from the plantiffs.
        3. No, I was the only one. The thing is Bishop Gilkey initiated all of this with Enoch Perrys help this is He advised Bishop Gilkey to violate the Bible in the name of the constitution (in my opinion). The General Board, Board of Bishops, leadership of the General Assembly are all aware. Those who can do something choose not to.
        4. All the pastors in KSW are afraid to cross Bishop Gilkey. Weak Knees
        5. Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction, Bishop J.C. Gilkey Prelate

  18. Where are the rest of those documents?

I know enough to know you don’t get a restraining order for no reason. So what was the reason the restraining order was granted?

I also know that if you’re getting garnished its because you didn’t pay a court ordered fee when you were supposed to pay. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a member of anything. If your name is on a lawsuit and you have to pay something (that means you lost the lawsuit), then your check can be garnished.

The only way you can say if someone is going to Heaven or Hell is by judging. I thought God was the only one who could judge one like that.

I’m not quite sure what poverty had to do with anything is this situation. All classes go through lawsuits in good and bad times.

How can you know that the Bishop is receiving the garnished wages. The lawsuit does say Church of God In Christ as well as Kansas Southwest.

My name is Marchelle Gentry and I would like the whole story.

    Comment by Marchelle Gentry — September 17, 2010 @ 8:50 AM | Reply

    • I’m not quite sure if you’re a man of God or not, but judging by the blogs I read I would have to say no. That is just my opinion.

I’m not saved and I usually don’t attend church, but I know God wants us to all get along and love each other as He loves us.

What I think is, if you were a man of God and you were being wrongly treated, you would pray. If the Bible is right, and I believe it is, prayer is the only way to go.

What makes me think you are not a man of God is the fact that you would be posting all of this on the internet. If you were a man of God and innocent of any wrong doings, wouldn’t you just believe that God would bring you out of this with justice served? Would He really want you to get as many people involved as possible?

It is was it is. If you don’t feel its right, be the man of God you’re claiming to be online and bring God into this, not everyone else.

      Comment by Marchelle Gentry — September 17, 2010 @ 9:52 AM | Reply

      • Marchelle Gentry since as you said you dont attend church and are not saved, how is it possible you know how aman of God should behave. You seem to know a lot about praying and bringing God into the situation but you yourself have blocked him from your life. Word to the wise: dont be a hypocrite.

In contrast, you had no words of rebuke for the bishop who is suing somebody for tithes and persecuting innocent people. I wonder why?

        Shameful.

    • This is a case that has been going on for 6 years. There are thousands of pages of documents, the purpose of this is as it says in Isaiah 58:1,” Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” Also Matthew 18:15-17 is applicable, it has been conformed to.

What I was saying is, why was the restraining order granted? Why are checks being garnished?

Why are you so upset? Do you not have faith that God will bring you through this even though its been six years?

  19. what a hateful, vindictive man. I never thought a COGIC bishop would end up in hell, but here’s some proof that’s a possibility.
Such evil persecution of the innocent isnt going to be overlooked on judgment day.

In a time when people are struggling to make it, a so called man of God (holiness type) stoops as low as he can to drive people into poverty. Sad and tragic.

Enjoy all the garnished wages Bishop Gilkey, Im sure you need them to help buy you lots of extra meals at the Convocation.

My name is DL Foster and I have zero respect for this heartless man.
